I stumbled across this while reading the usual forums and other online resources and it made me think. There are many great photographers such as Ansel Adams that are credited for stunning and pioneering photography. However true innovators like Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii (1863-1944), are almost completely forgotten or at least not well known. Sergei’s color photography for the time was truly awesome. How he came up with the idea of using Red Green and Blue (RGB) color filters is anyone’s guess.

Nikon 70-200 VR mini review (is light falloff as bad as everyone says?)

The Nikon 70-200 VR is currently, in my opinion the bargain lens to get for any amateur and even serious photographers. It has been superseded by the 70-200 VR II which is a complete re-design optically and costs nearly double of that a used mint conditioned version 1 costs. Why would you spend more if you don’t need it?

Aperture 3 File Management, Part 1:Basics! (Aperture 3 File Management made easy)

Working with any Digital Asset Management Platform (DAMP) like Aperture 3, Lightroom 3 and others is, in my opinion, a one way street. The problem is also as you fill your database with photos, it becomes more difficult to make changes retroactively. Because of this, it is best to set up your DAMP the way you want from the very beginning. Since I chose Aperture 3 I will go through the power of Aperture in any respect over a four part article. This is part 1:Basics. Essentially we will go through all the basics and presets you can set in order to automate importing and organizing your Photo library in the best way.

Finding out the shutter count on a Nikon DSLR in Mac OS X (The easy way)
If you have ever wondered what your actual shutter count is, you might have stumbled over a few applications to download (EXIF Viewer etc.). If you have at least Apple Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or 10.6 (Snow Leopard), there is a much simpler and faster way however. This works with pretty much all Nikon Digital Cameras and I am assuming most Canon DSLRs as well.
