I stumbled across this while reading the usual forums and other online resources and it made me think. There are many great photographers such as Ansel Adams that are credited for stunning and pioneering photography. However true innovators like Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii (1863-1944), are almost completely forgotten or at least not well known. Sergei’s color photography for the time was truly awesome. How he came up with the idea of using Red Green and Blue (RGB) color filters is anyone’s guess.

How was this photo made 03 (Helicopter in flight)
I went out and by chance a medical helicopter landed near the beach I was at with my family. I decided this would be a good approach for a tutorial or how-to.If you do a google search for helicopter shots, there are tons that show the helicopter frozen in place with the rotors absolutely pin sharp, in mid air. It does not look natural. So how do we change that?May 8, 2010
How was this photo made 02 (Marina at midnight)?
This photo came to be by accident but because tweaking was involved and the results are very nice, i thought this would be a good candidate for a tutorial. This is a shot I took at the local lake with a peer in the foreground and the nightsky with stars visible. Comparing the lighting, there is a big contrast. Usually you cant expose stars when you have other parts lit up. The camera settings are a bit tricky and will involve a lot of trial and error but the results are really stunning.May 5, 2010
How this photo was made 01 (Lighting up the night!)?
The initial idea actually came from a friend of mine who told me that it would look cool to light up a dark road at night with a car and photograph it.Well this shot has taken it a little bit further. The effect is truly stunning but actually NOT really difficult to replicate because all you do is record all the light along a tree-line during a certain amount of time.
