So sorry about that…(Site unavailable ARGHH)

by admin — Categories: OpinionsNo Comments

Maintenance on a plugin for wordpress killed the site and for some reason it killed parts of the database with each page refresh.

I do apologize but it took until now to restore everything and essentially I have not lost anything but one image file and a das worth of logs.

Anyone who wanted to read an article, I am really sorry.

Amazing Russian Photos from 1905-1915 in COLOR – Hey mom look it’s 3D!

by admin — Categories: Opinions, Photo Class — Tags: , , , , 4 Comments

I stumbled across this while reading the usual forums and other online resources and it made me think. There are many great photographers such as Ansel Adams that are credited for stunning and pioneering photography. However true innovators like Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii (1863-1944), are almost completely forgotten or at least not well known. Sergei’s color photography for the time was truly awesome. How he came up with the idea of using Red Green and Blue (RGB) color filters is anyone’s guess.

Now the rumor mill is running high for the Nikon D7000 which should be the name of the nikon D0 replacement. With all the renaming, what is Nikon’s strategy? And with Canon’s much awaited and major let down 60D, how does Canon fit into this?

Aperture 3 Maintenance: Decreasing library size (Didn’t I tell you to DELETE!?)

by admin — Categories: Apple Aperture — Tags: , , No Comments

Working with Aperture 3 is an absolute bliss. Thre I said it, deal with it. A lot of people do not like parts of Aperture and one of the gripes with the older version was that even though you deleted the photo, the associated thumbnails etc. in the database did not get deleted. They didn’t get displayed either anymore, because you DID delete the photo, but it kept the thumbnails and minis in the library, JUST in case you re-import :)

So how does Aperture 3 deal with this?

Photographing your kids on public playgrounds ( I am sorry, you called me a WHAT??!)

by admin — Categories: Opinions — Tags: , , , , No Comments

fight.jpg

Interesting thing happened to a friend of mine. He got yelled at for taking a photo with his DSLR on a public playground. Another mom came with a barrage of children and let them loose. Fair enough, it’s a public playground. Now, what was interesting was that as soon as she saw the Digital SLR camera, she went straight up to him and said:” Do not take photos here since only pedophiles do that and you are not authorized to take pictures with my children around”. WHAT?!?!?!
